Getting Back to My Southern Roots

Hi, values storying community. I’ll be taking a break from blogging this week as I help a local business tell their story to their customers during Customer Appreciation Week. I told you about Southern Roots Nursery and Garden Center in Hernando in a Values Storying Spotlight last Thursday. I’ll be back next week with more posts to inspire, encourage, challenge, and entertain.

Southern Roots Giveaways

I wanted to give my values storying community in the DeSoto County area a nudge toward some of the cool giveaways with a decidedly and purposefully local flavor that Southern Roots has put together. You can register for the giveaways for yourself or for others. I have listed the giveaways and their related links below. I hope you win one of these very unique prizes.

  • A memory tree with plaque from Hernando business Sports of All Sorts to honor a loved one who has passed away.
  • A “Let Your Love Grow” red rose bush and a date night at City Hall Cheesecake for a newly married couple in 2014.
  • A “Newborn” hydrandrea bush (blue for a boy and pink for a girl) for someone who became a parent or grandparent in 2014, along with a gift certificate from Big Muddy Coffee Company, a “newborn” Hernando business.
  • A fall planting collection for a new homeowner with mulch provided by Backyard Landscape Products on Nesbit.
  • A full fall display and gift certificate to local favorite Buon Cibo restaurant.

Still Haven’t Gotten a Copy of Lines in the Gravel?

If you’re in the DeSoto County area, drop by Southern Roots at 2971 Holly Springs Road in Hernando on Saturday between 9-4 and say hello. There will be plenty of free food, and I’ll be there helping out and signing copies of my book, Lines in the Gravel (and 52 Other Re-Told Childhood Tales). I’d love to visit with you.

Until next week, keep telling those stories that matter on behalf of the next generation. Thanks for reading.

I have several new speaking engagements and book signings coming up in the next couple of months. Be sure to sign up for my email list (over on your right under the headline “More Values Storying”) to stay up with the latest in how I’m getting values storying message out to different groups. I’ll be sending out a new email on Wednesday with all the latest.
